More than £64 million has been paid into thousands of people’s bank accounts to help ease the cost of living crisis in Nottinghamshire - and our map shows how much has been handed out where you live. In April and May, around eight million households on means-tested benefits received a payment of £301 each in the UK.
That added up to more than £2.4bn in funding provided to families across the country. Then, over June and early July, nearly seven million people claiming disability benefits should have received a £150 boost paid directly into their bank accounts. That amounted to £1.0bn to support disabled people. In total that adds up to £3.4bn that has so far been paid out to struggling families and individuals to help them cope with the cost of living crisis. The bulk of the money went to England, with London receiving the biggest share of cash, a total of £445.5 million, followed by the North West , the South East , and the West Midlands.A total of £299.5m was paid to families and individuals in Scotland, £192.0m in Wales, and £152.8m in Northern Ireland.
Locally, people in Nottingham received £21.3m, with Ashfield getting £7.6m and Mansfield £6.9m. Rushcliffe received the lowest total - £3.5m.
