Judges have handed out prison sentences totalling more than 100 years
Rioters who brought violence and disorder to streets throughout the UK after protests flared are now being humbled as they face the full force of the justice system.
Others pushed wheelie bins at police officers, set fire to police vehicles, and shouted vile racist and homophobic abuse. In total, 51 people have already been given a jail sentence after pleading guilty to charges connected with the riots, and the punishments handed out now add up to a total of just over 100 years behind bars.
The average age of the rioters jailed to date is 34 with a 51 year age gap between the youngest to be locked up and the eldest rioter to be sent down - William Morgan in Liverpool - who is 69 years old.
