Aston Villa goalkeeper Emi Martinez was bemused after he was not sent off during a dramatic penalty shootout as Unai Emery's men beat Lille in the Europa Conference League
Emi Martinez hit out at referee Ivan Kruzliak and admitted he "doesn't understand the rules" after he was shown two yellow cards but avoided being sent off during Aston Villa's shootout win over Lille.
IFAB Law 10 outlines that all yellow cards are reset in a penalty shootout, meaning Martinez was allowed to stay on - but he still expressed his bemusement at full-time. "Then there was no ball on the penalty spot so I asked the ball-boy for a ball, and then I get booked! I just don't understand the rules."
