Met Eireann has confirmed which counties are to be hit the hardest as thunderstorms are set to batter the country.
They said: “Update: Heavy rain at times, with highest accumulations in mountainous regions. Unseasonably windy conditions also. Friday, 7 July Rather cloudy to start this morning with some heavy showers, mainly in the west. Sunny spells will develop mixed with well scattered showers for the afternoon, with the chance of isolated thunderstorms. Showers will become confined to the northwest, for a dry and sunny evening elsewhere. Warm, humid and very breezy today with highs of 19 to 23 degrees in fresh and gusty southerly winds.
Largely dry and clear with winds easing to a light southerly breeze. Later in the night, heavy showers will move up into the south. Cooler than previous nights with lows of 9 to 11 degrees.
