Motorists should watch out for black ice as temperatures are set to drop to -4C overnight
Met Eireann has issued two new Status Yellow alerts for all of Ireland as drivers have been warned of 'hazardous conditions'.
The nationwide Status Yellow warning for 'freezing fog' came into effect at 4pm on Friday and will remain in place overnight until 12pm on Saturday.The alert reads: "Patches of freezing fog are expected, causing potentially hazardous driving conditions." A forecaster said: "A sharp frost and icy stretches will set in on Friday night as temperatures dip to -4 degrees in places."
Weather expert Alan O'Reilly estimated that there will be "very little thaw" over the next seven days.
