Ireland has gone from warm weather with temperatures hitting 23 degrees, to a major drop in conditions as a cold snap takes over and thunderstorms are set to arrive in the country

Mostly dry and chilly tonight with long clear spells. Cloudier though for a time near southern coasts with the odd spot of drizzle possible. Lowest temperatures of 3 to 7 degrees generally, a little milder in the far south and southwest, and a touch lower in some central rural parts with a touch of grass frost. Light variable breezes will allow some pockets of mist and fog to develop.

Friday, 13 October Outbreaks of rain will affect parts of Munster and south Leinster through the morning but will gradually clear to the southeast during the afternoon with brighter mainly dry weather following. Ulster and Connacht will be mostly dry and sunny but frequent showers will feed into coastal parts on a brisk northwest breeze and some will be heavy. Highest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees generally, northwest winds will be moderate overland and fresher near exposed coasts.
