Met Eireann has issued a nationwide weather advisory for later this week as Ireland faces the prospect of stormy conditions into the weekend.
The stormy weather will be formed by a jet stream that is currently resulting in freezing temperatures in the United States. Issuing the weather advisory, a Met Eireann spokesperson said: "On Thursday night and during Friday, a deepening Low-Pressure system is forecast to track close to Ireland. Very strong winds are likely across the country with the potential for damaging wind gusts and disruption in places. High seas and spells of heavy rain are expected also.
