Met Éireann has forecast one of the hottest days of the year for later this week before things take an inevitable turn for the worse after the weekend
Ireland is set to experience one of its hottest days of the year so far later this week as the belated summer weather continues into the weekend.
As has been the case so far this week, it is likely to be slightly cooler in the east of the country on Thursday due to a light to moderate easterly wind but it will still be a dry day with long spells of sunshine, as will be the case again on Wednesday in what has been a glorious week to date. The forecast suggests that the weekend will remain fine for large parts of the country, particularly in the west and the north, but patchy drizzle will affect parts of Leinster and Munster as cloudier conditions move in with the chance of a few showers.
