The weather across Ireland has been very up-and-down lately, however, people are hoping that some warmer conditions are on the way, with an expert giving some insight

Met Eireann has updated their weather maps as an expert has spoken out on the “rare strong El Niño event”.

“The 97-98 winter also experienced a rare strong El Niño event, a very mild winter, and similarly there was cold weather in April. Also as in 1998, La Niña will develop over the summertime… 1998 is a strong analogue this year and for this upcoming summer. They added: “Some places get wetter others get drier for example Southern Africa tends to get drought during El Niño, and they are experiencing that now.

Next week, we can expect there to be more unsettled weather, with it turning milder as the days progress.Friday, 26 April Lingering rain and cloud will clear the south through the morning. Otherwise bright and manly dry elsewhere with showers feeding into the north through the morning. Some sunny spells for the afternoon and evening with well scattered showers, some heavy. The best of the sunshine will be in the east later on.

Any showers dying out and becoming mainly dry and chilly on Saturday night with clear spells in a light northwest or variable breeze. Lowest temperatures of -1 to +3 degrees with some grass frost forming where its coolest in the north.
