Irish fee is substantially more than in other European countries and amounts to ‘tax on migrants’, campaigners claim
‘The throuple was intense. I’m really happy I had that experience. I’m equally happy I’m no longer in it’The IRP card fee doubled to €300 in 2012 as an austerity measure and has not been reviewed since, the group outlined.
The group has started a petition calling on the Minister for Justice, Helen McEntee, to reduce the IRP fee to a level more in line with similar fees charged for other State registrations. “It only costs €20 to issue. It’s extortionate and unwarranted and we have no other choice but to pay. The Government generates additional income off our backs because of where we come from.”
