Motorist 'almost killed' after car drives down wrong side of Irish motorway as gardai investigate

A motorist has claimed he was 'almost killed' when a car driving in the wrong direction on the motorway suddenly appeared in front of him.

The incident allegedly happened on Thursday, November 10 on the M3 motorway in Meath near Junction 6, the exit for Dunshaughlin. A video of the near-miss appeared on a separate Reddit post days later showing a car driving the wrong way down the motorway for miles. The location was mistakenly labelled as the M1 in the post but people were quick to correct in the comments with one person writing: "It's 100% the M3 southbound between J7 & J6."

Many people took to the comments of the video, with one person writing: "Christ, I just kept waiting for the smash. See [nothing] on the news pages, so I'm guessing it ended without major incident."
