MTU Cork secured their place in the semi-finals of the Fitzgibbon Cup after a dominant second-half performance against TUS Midwest. The Cork students trailed by four points at the interval, but a stunning comeback saw them win by 15 points, 4-18 to 1-17. MTU Cork's second-half resurgence was spearheaded by Alan Walsh who completed a hat-trick, while Jack Cahalane added a crucial goal.
TUS Midwest, led by Kyle Shelly who scored 1-12, started brightly, taking an early lead with a penalty from Shelly and further points from Niall O'Farrell, Paddy McCormack, and Sean Canning. However, MTU Cork found a much-needed goal before half-time, with Walsh finishing off a Brian Lynch run and pass to cut the deficit to four. The second half saw a complete turnaround as MTU Cork took control. Two quick-fire goals from Walsh put them ahead, with Connolly adding to his tally from center-forward and setting up Cahalane for their fourth green flag. While MTU Cork dominated the second half, TUS Midwest faded as the game progressed. Darragh O'Sullivan was instrumental for the Cork side, finishing off well-made runs off the ball, something that wasn't as prominent in the first half. The final score of 4-18 to 1-17 reflects MTU Cork's impressive turnaround, securing their place in the semi-finals of the prestigious Fitzgibbon Cup competition
