Munster Rugby has secured the services of Dan Kelly, a talented English center who qualifies for Ireland, on a two-year contract.
Munster Rugby has announced the signing of Dan Kelly , an Ireland -eligible English international, on a two-year contract. Kelly, who currently plays for Leicester Tigers, represented England at the senior level, earning one cap against Canada in 2021 and being part of the squad for the 2023 Six Nations tournament until an injury sidelined him.
Known for his crucial contributions to Leicester's Premiership title victory in 2022, where he made 23 appearances, Kelly continues to be a valuable asset for the Tigers, scoring one try in 10 games this season. His overall record with Leicester stands at 10 tries in 88 appearances since making his debut in 2020. Kelly's eligibility for Ireland stems from his grandparents. He previously represented Ireland's U20s alongside fellow Munster players Tom Ahern and Jack Crowley in 2020, winning the Triple Crown before the competition was halted due to the pandemic. Versatile in his playing style, Kelly can operate at both inside and outside centre positions. Born in Manchester, he spent two years at the Sale Sharks Academy at 16 before joining Leicester Tigers in 2020, making his Premiership debut against Gloucester at the age of 19. The 2020/21 season saw Kelly solidify his place as a key player for the Tigers, scoring two tries in 17 appearances and featuring in the Challenge Cup final.
