A recent report revealed that victims were being brought to Ireland for sexual exploitation, slavery, and even organ harvesting

An average of 55 people are caught being illegally trafficked into Ireland every year, the majority of whom are victims of sexual exploitation, according to new figures from the Department of Justice.

Figures released by the Department of Justice reveal that 53 victims of human trafficking were recorded in 2023, and an average of 55 were detected each year over the preceding nine years. A National Referral Mechanism has been established with the intention of making it easier for victims of human trafficking to come forward and access support from a range of agencies, rather than just An Garda Síochána.
