The FBI is investigating the New Year's Day terror attack in New Orleans that killed 14 people. Suspect Shamsud-Din Jabbar, a 42-year-old US citizen and army veteran from Texas, travelled alone to Egypt in 2023. Authorities found bomb-making materials at Jabbar's rented accommodation in New Orleans and his home in Houston. Jabbar used a rare explosive compound in two functional improvised explosive devices (IEDs) that did not detonate. Meanwhile, local authorities are facing scrutiny over the lack of bollards on Bourbon Street, where the attack occurred.

Investigations are continuing into the terror attack that killed 14 people in New Orleans on New Year's Day.

FBI also said that before his attack, Jabbar set fire to a house he had rented in an effort to destroy evidence. Bomb-making materials were found both at the rented accommodation in New Orleans and Jabbar's home in Houston, Texas.Explosive devices
