A very grim recommendation

Dr Tony Holohan has said pubs could have to stay closed until as late as October if there is no vaccine pass system introduced.Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Dr Ronan Glynn, was also updating the TDs and he said that the “most optimistic” estimate for case numbers would be close to 1,000 a day.

He said that: “my quarrel is not with NPHET, they’re just doing their job, my quarrel is with the Government and their lack of contingency planning.” Mr Kelly also said Dr Holohan was also satisfied that young, unvaccinated people would be serving fully vaccinated people. It's also understood that Dr Holohan did not oppose an independent review of NPHET's modelling which has been requested by Opposition parties.
