The NWSL has terminated the contracts of Orlando Pride head coach Amanda Cromwell and assistant coach Sam Greene on Monday, following the conclusion of an investigation into their conduct. The two were placed on administrative leave on June 6.

on June 6 at the recommendation of the NWSL/NWSL Players Association joint investigative committee for “alleged retaliation in violation of the NWSL Policy to Prevent and Eliminate Workplace Discrimination, Harassment, and Bullying.”

Last March, the Pride investigated allegations of favoritism shown by Cromwell and Greene, as well as verbal abuse from Cromwell. The two were formally warned after some of the allegations were substantiated. Cromwell was also informed she had to undergo leadership training. In May, new complaints were made to the NWSL/NWSLPA joint investigative team for alleged retaliation against players involved in the original complaint. By June, the two were placed on administrative leave to preserve the integrity of the investigation.

According to the league’s release on Monday: “Specifically, Cromwell and Greene were found to have engaged in conduct that discouraged reporting and fostered a general fear of retaliation, and to have taken negative actions against certain players, including by seeking to waive or trade them.” Pride owner and chairman Mark Wilf said in a statement the club “supports” the actions taken so far by the league.
