Bree was part of Andy Moran’s set up in Leitrim for the past two years, the high point being the promotion from Division Three last March, while he worked under Anthony Cunningham in Roscommon in 2022 as they won the Division Two title.
Offaly have made the first appointment to their backroom team since the shock arrival of Mickey Harte as joint-manager.
READ MORE: Zach Tuohy could have been 'multiple All Star' and tipped for GAA return by close pal Gavin Devlin, who worked alongside Harte in his latter years in Tyrone and then Louth and Derry, would ordinarily have been a shoo-in to join him in Offaly, but he has recently taken up a role as head of Louth’s underage set up, which would appear to preclude him from being involved with another county.
The arrival of Harte has largely been greeted positively in Offaly, though naturally there is scepticism about the joint arrangement between him and Kelly and how it will play out.
