“We needed to give him some space,” Holtmann said. “Then he got out of shape a little bit. Honestly, in Isaac’s mind, he was trying to find out in the grand scheme of things in life, how important is basketball? That took a minute. It was as impressive of a game, it’s hard to say, ‘Where has that been?’. He almost had a triple-double. That’s a hard thing to expect, but it was such a complete performance, especially when you add in he was guarding a first-round draft pick .
“No real update other than the knee has responded well to some of the treatment that our medical staff has done,” he said. “We do not expect it to be a long-term injury of any type. What his availability is for Tuesday is still too early to say.” West Virginia senior transfer guard Sean McNeil came off the bench against Iowa, marking the first game this season he has not been a starter. McNeil dealt with a dental emergency leading into the Iowa game and was unable to practice, opening the door for freshman Roddy Gayle to make his first career start.
