Thousands are expected to flock to Dublin City Centre today as Team Ireland are set to be welcomed home after their record-breaking performances at the Paris Olympics

Ireland won seven medals at the games, including four golds, and today marks the first civic reception for an Irish Team returning home fromThe reception takes place at the GPO on O'Connell Street with the show kicking off at 12.30pm and Team Ireland are expected to arrive on stage around 1.30pm.will broadcast the event live and it can be viewed on the RTE Player and we will have all the live updates right here.

Fellow gold medal hero Paul O'Donovan may be an absentee after starting a new job shortly after the Games as he trains to become an orthopedic surgeon.Wiffen took to social media late last night to reveal he was rushed to hospital following an illness and was forced to withdraw from flagbearer duties at yesterday's Closing Ceremony.

But the Armagh native appears to be feeling better and will attend the homecoming today after catching the flight home.Fans were urged to avoid Dublin Airport and wait to see their heroes in O'Connell Street but such was the excitement some young fans couldn't resist turning up to the Terminal Two arrivals hall.

And the Olympic stars are making sure to take their time to pose for photos with fans before slowly making their way onto the bus and heading for the City Centre.After a late night in Paris last night, the Olympic stars were up bright and early to catch a flight home to Ireland.They'll spend the next little while talking with their family and fans and sorting out their ample luggage before heading to O'Connell Street for their homecoming.
