Met Éireann has said severe frost, icy conditions and freezing fog will lead to hazardous travelling conditions this morning
The forecaster said a Status Orange low temperature and ice warning is in place until midday for the entire country, with temperatures likely to fall below -5 degrees in many areas.
It has warned of widespread sharp to severe frosts with some showers of hail, sleet and snow, mainly near coasts, and freezing fog at times.
