Conor Flaherty had performed well and was not injured

Pádraic Joyce hailed the maturity of goalkeeper Conor Flaherty during Galway’s win over Donegal on Sunday.

Their tally was amassed with the help of seven two-pointers, one of which was scored by Flaherty, a beautiful kick from the outside of the right boot as he contributed positively to the Galway attack on numerous occasions. However, when the teams emerged for the second half, he had been replaced by his rival for the goalkeeping slot, Connor Gleeson, as Galway faced into the elements at Pearse Stadium.

“Probably his first game for us in a couple of years but we’ll get more game time into Conor Flah as the League goes on but brilliant team player. For a young fella like that to come out and say that at half-time and have that maturity in his head is just fantastic.” Joyce gave a fitness update on key trio John Daly, Paul Conroy and Damien Comer, all of whom missed the game.
