San Diego and Philadelphia will begin championship series next week at Petco Park and could play seven games in eight days if it goes the distance
Thursday is an off day — but it’s the only scheduled one of the series. The teams will play Friday, Saturday and Sunday in Philadelphia, where the Phillies have not played in the NLCS since 2009.There is no off day between Games 5 and 6. If necessary, the series would return to Petco Park on Monday, Oct. 24, for Game 6, with Game 7 to follow the next day, if needed.
The World Series is scheduled to begin Friday, Oct. 28. Either the Padres or Phillies would start the series on the road, since every American League team remaining in the postseason had a better record during the regular season.
