Padres remain in on Japanese star Seiya Suzuki, others; looking to deal Eric Hosmer or Wil Myers
The Padres have not officially joined the expected post-lockout transaction frenzy. But on the eve of their first official workout of spring training, the team was engaged on multiple fronts on potential deals involving big names.
Thus, the acquisition of the two free agents would merely be the beginning, the first pieces to be put in place in President of Baseball Operations A.J. Preller’s attempt to place big-name dominoes. The Padres continue to court suitors for first baseman Eric Hosmer and have re-upped making outfielder Wil Myers available.
Hosmer arrived at camp Sunday. His continued presence in a clubhouse where he has forged a leadership role will be something of a distraction until his status on the team is resolved.
