In a heartbreaking post on social media on Monday evening, Irina wrote: 'Our hearts are shattered, but we are overwhelmed by the love and support from all of you'
The grieving parents of a five-year-old boy who died after he was hit by a car have said their "hearts are shattered" - and they are "overwhelmed by the love and support" they have received since their son’s tragic death.
Just 10 minutes before the horror incident, Aaron had spoken to his dad, who was in hospital for the past week, by phone before going outside to play in the estate, a family friend said. In a heartbreaking post on social media on Monday evening, Irina wrote: "Our hearts are shattered, but we are overwhelmed by the love and support from all of you."
Aaron, who was a junior infant pupil in the Educate Together school in Portlaoise, had made a deeply touching video with his dad just days before he was tragically killed - telling his father, "If you miss me just watch the video," a family friend has revealed. "It’s absolutely devastating, it’s a shocking tragedy. We are all heartbroken," the family friend said.
