The Chancellor has been told to launch an urgent review of the winter fuel payment thresholds as some pensioners face missing out on the £300 boost
State pensioners with savings of £18,200 or more have been alerted to the possibility of losing their £300 Winter Fuel Payment. With an incoming Labour government, Chancellor Rachel Reeves has been told to urgently review the thresholds for these payments.
Caroline Flint, in her comments to The Telegraph, underscored: "There are some groups of pensioners not receiving benefits but who are on lower incomes and need support too. The immediate thing is to ask the Government to take a look at the impacts of removing the winter fuel payment on some of those lower income pensioners who are just above the pension credit threshold."
Furthermore, the Committee on Fuel Poverty's Miatta Fahnbulleh MP reflected on recent developments, saying: "After our meeting we were made aware of the Chancellor's decision to withdraw the Winter Fuel Payment from all pensioners except those in receipt of Pension Credit.", reports Birmingham Live.
