It's not the first time women have been left outraged over the issue - and yet it remains unresolved by many major fashion outlets, with some designers claiming it's down to costs
Women have been voicing their complaints about this issue for decades, yet it remains unresolved. If you've ever compared the pocket size of men's and women's trousers, you'll likely have noticed that men's pockets are almost twice as large.
Another theory suggests that this was a method of keeping women powerless. The argument goes: "If they had no way to secretly carry items around, it would be harder for them to travel independently or conduct clandestine affairs." However, in 1891, The Rational Dress Society challenged this decision and began sewing pockets into the dresses of the day.
A decade later, the disparity in pocket size between men's and women's clothing remains a point of contention. One Reddit user remarked: "It has to do with figure profile. Hour glass curves are disrupted by full pockets. You can make it more complicated by mixing in advertisers and designers picking up on needing an alternative storage container, and seeing the purse as a cash cow. But in this case, the aesthetics came first.
