Irish weather expert, Alan O'Reilly, echoed Met Eireann's uncertainty and warned of a potential 'spanner in the works'
The weather forecast for the fast approaching bank holiday weekend may be difficult to predict but Met Eireann says there's a chance some parts of the country could see temperatures as high as 20°C at the weekend.
"Latest charts show a bit of a spanner in the works for Bank Holiday Weekend with risk of low system on Sunday," warned Alan on Carlow Weather on X. "Weather models really struggling with part of rain Thursday so don’t trust any single app or website forecast for Thursday at present," he posted. Wednesday: It'll be much drier on Wednesday, the first of May, as compared to earlier in the week. There'll be a lot of dry weather overall with spells of sunshine, though there'll be a scattering of showers, a few possibly heavy. It's likely to become cloudier in eastern parts through the day. Highest temperatures of 12°C to 15°C or 16°C in mostly moderate southeast winds, decreasing light later.
