A pretty grim sight
Dead fish and reports of rat sightings have sparked concern over a dirty pond outside Southport Hospital.
This week, large numbers of dead fish could be seen floating in the water as well as litter and broken tree branches. .A hospital staff member told LancsLive that a man had been seen entering the water on one day in a bid to clear the blocked drain. However, he had no protective clothing and was advised to leave by others in the area who warned him of a risk of serious infection.
Paul Tabron, secretary of Southport and District Angling Association, numerous enquiries have been made to him about the state of the water, even though it is nothing to do with that group. He said he has also been unable to contact Kew Angling Society but has informed the Environment Agency of the issue.
