The drugs were disguised
Revenue's dog Bailey finds €20,000 of disguised cannabis in An Post's Dublin Mail CentreRevenue has confirmed that yesterday , their officers at the Dublin Mail Centre seized 1kg of herbal cannabis with an estimated street value of €20,000.
According to a statement published by the organisation, the drugs were discovered with the assistance of Revenue detector dog Bailey, concealed in two parcels labelled as ‘diaries’. The drugs originated in South Africa and were headed towards North Dublin. Separately, on Monday, during routine operations, Revenue officers at the Portlaoise Mail Centre seized 9kgs of Khat with an estimated street value of €4,500. The Khat was discovered in a parcel that originated in Ethiopia and was destined for an address in Dublin City Centre.Investigations in both incidents are ongoing with a view to prosecution.
