The Tallaght sprinting star won her heat in great style and is now bidding to make an Olympic final
By Michael Scully Rhasidat Adeleke will avoid her biggest rivals for an Olympic medal when she steps back on the Stade de France track for the 400m semi-finals on Wednesday night. After cruising to victory on her Games debut in the heats on Monday morning, Adeleke will next get to experience that special night time atmosphere at the sold-out stadium.
Adeleke will come up against US track star Aaliyah Butler, one of five competitors in the semi-final that have run under 50 seconds. The Netherlands' Lieke Klaver, a regular rival on the relay circuit, is also included, as is former world champ Salwa Eid Naser of Bahrain, but Adeleke's 49.07 PB that she posted this season is the fastest of the quintet.
