Meeting his comedy hero and getting a congratulatory message from Fifty Shades of Grey star Jamie Dornan among the highlights, but reuniting with family and his girlfriend topped the bill
Rhys McClenaghan met his comedy hero Dara Ó Briain for the first time after winning the Olympic gold medal victory - but was still tucked up in bed early after his thrilling victory.
Another highlight was receiving a message of congratulations from Hollywood star Jamie Dornan. “I went to do RTE looking out over the Eiffel Tower, which had a great view," said McClenaghan. “Jamie Dornan messaged me. I’ve never met him in person but he’s messaged me a couple of times and messaged me on Saturday as well.
“To contribute to that is always an honour, the more the merrier in my eyes. I wish the rest of the athletes success in the week to come, leading into the finish of the Olympic Games. I am incredibly proud to be a part of this team. It was such a nice team atmosphere in the Village this time around. I’m glad I got to experience that."
