The trial of Alan Vial and Nikita Burns, accused of murdering Robert Wilkin and discarding his body off Sliabh Ligh, has been adjourned until February 24th due to an unforeseen issue.

Alan Vial, from Drumanoo, Killybegs, County Donegal , and Nikita Burns from Carrick, County Donegal , are facing charges of murdering Robert Wilkin and disposing of his body off Sliabh Ligh in June 2023. The trial, which commenced on January 17th, had an unexpected development, leading to an adjournment until Monday week.

The prosecuting barrister, Bernard Condon SC, presented the State's case against Alan Vial and Nikita Burns, alleging that Robert Wilkin met his demise due to a violent assault in an area between Killybegs and Sliabh Ligh. The prosecution further claims that Wilkin's body was subsequently thrown over the cliffs. Upon the jury's return this morning, the judge informed them of an unavoidable matter that required attention from all parties involved. After consultation and agreement from the jury, the judge adjourned the case until February 24th, indicating that proceedings would resume on that date
