The Irish Mirror obtained pictures of both Mr O’Gorman and Mr Cuffe’s potato crops after their press conference at Bord Bia Bloom so that they could be officially compared.

Some friendly competition broke out between Integration Minister Roderic O’Gorman and Green Party MEP Ciaran Cuffe at Bord Bia Bloom on Friday. For once, it was not politics at stake, however. The pair were left comparing the height of their potatoes.

The Green politicians were out canvassing at the Phoenix Park event as Dublin MEP Mr Cuffe continued his bid to win back his seat in Brussels during June 7’s European elections. As the sun beat down on the second day of Bord Bia Bloom, the Irish Mirror asked Minister O’Gorman if he was just a Green TD or whether he had green fingers as well.“The tomatoes we have to pick off the little extra growths on them.
