The RTE broadcaster makes choices daily to stay on top of his physical and mental health as he gets older: ‘I’m 72, and even though you count it every year, it does creep up on you’

Ronan Collins is conscious of making healthier choices everyday after battling health issues a number of years ago.

While there was nothing he could have done to prevent the cyst, he does do all he can to prevent other health issues down the line.Speaking to RSVP, he said: “I was very heavy for years, and in the last 20 years my weight has reduced dramatically and I’m conscious of how much I eat. He added: “I’m also very protective of my ability to keep moving. I play golf a few times a week and I always walk, I don’t use buggies. When I go into buildings, I always try to use the stairs, never the lift. If you’re going up two or three floors in a building, even that 50 or 60 steps is important.

Ronan said that ageing has also made him more aware of looking after his health, physically and mentally.
