Mary will be volunteering with Samaritans tonight and on hand for anyone who may be struggling over the festive period - December is one of their busiest times with over 900 calls made to the service last Christmas Day
While we're all tucking into our Christmas dinner and settling down to put on some festive films, there are people out there who are severely struggling with their mental health today.

Callers put their trust in us at a time when they are experiencing a range of personal challenges from mental health struggles to family issues, relationship problems, loneliness, financial worries and from people who feel suicidal."
“At Christmas time, feelings of loneliness and despair are heightened, especially on Christmas Day when the emphasis is on families being together as portrayed on television and in the ads. That image can magnify those feelings. People can be overwhelmed.
