Ireland continues to grapple with a major cold snap, with schools closed and thousands of homes and businesses still without electricity. Hazardous travel conditions are expected for much of the week due to snow, ice, and freezing fog.
Some schools remain closed while more than 10,000 households and businesses are still without electricity. A yellow warning of more snow and ice is in effect until 12pm on Tuesday. Met Éireann says the cold weather will persist until Friday morning, while daytime temperatures will struggle to climb above freezing and night-time temperatures will plunge as low as -8 degrees in some places during the week.
