Two Scots brothers caught up in devastating wildfires that have destroyed parts of an Hawaiian island have told of the apocalyptic scenes they witnessed. .
Finn 17, is on holiday in Lahaina before going back to school. More than 2700 buildings in the town have been destroyed but only three per cent of the charred properties have been examined so far. The wildfires – the deadliest to hit the US in more than a century – came as soaring heat, kindling dry conditions, and hurricanes swept across the island.
“They got out quickly as the fires were getting closer and went back to Rob’s house, which is outside the town, then watched it burn from the distance.
