Scottie Scheffler has had a smashing season, winning the Tour Championship's FedEx Cup and pocketing a cool £19million. But that's not all - he's set to rake in another £7.6m before the season ends without even lifting a club.
The Player Impact Program is a scheme that rewards golf's top-10 ranked players with a share of around £30m each season. The player leading the rankings is most likely to take home the lion's share. Despite facing backlash for being seen as a popularity contest, the prize pool has been cut from £79m for the top 20 players to £39m for the top 10. The winner now pockets £7.6m, down from the $15m Rory McIlroy bagged in 2023.
While his fellow American Ryder Cup teammate was making headway on Sunday, Scottie Scheffler remained unflappable, carding a final round four-under 67 to secure the Tour Championship by a comfortable four strokes and seizing the FedEx Cup amid heartfelt scenes at the 18th.
