It's hoped it will help the lorry driver shortage
Drivers across Scotland and the rest of the UK are being called upon to give evidence following a possible driving licence change.
Now that the UK has left the EU, the department is wanting to change the driving licence rules to combat the lorry driver shortage. Under EU law, anyone who passed their car test from January 1 1997 is limited to vehicle and trailer weight of no more than 3.5 tonnes and a separate test is required for a C1 licence.Meanwhile, before 1997, anyone with a driving licence received an automatic category C1 entitlement. This allowed them to drive vehicles between 3.5 and 7.
