General Secretary John-Paul McHugh has announced he is leaving after around 16 months at the helm of the Labour machine north of the border. McHugh took over in the spring of last year and was in charge of getting Labour ready for the election.
Scottish Labour leader Anas Sarwar said: “When my friend John-Paul took on the role of General Secretary, Scottish Labour was still in the process of rebuilding. “John-Paul will leave Scottish Labour in the strongest political and financial position in over a decade and ready to fight to win the 2026 Scottish Parliament election.
McHugh said: “It has been the honour of my working life to serve as General Secretary of Scottish Labour - the party I have campaigned for my entire adult life.
