A seagull snatched a beloved pet dog from a garden, leaving the owners distraught. The owners launched a social media appeal to find their chihuahua, but it seems that the dog did not survive the incident.
The owners of a beloved pet dog have spoken about how their pooch was snatched by a seagull who flew off with it in its mouth.
Becca said that she and her daughter, who was six at the time, were left distraught by what happened. She said: "My partner was in the garden putting the washing out at the time and suddenly he saw it swoop down. It carried Gizmo a fair way as we couldn't see him anymore. I have no idea if he was dropped or where he is now."And in her Facebook post, she wrote: "Please, please, please, anyone finds a chihuahua he's mine a seagull has taken him from my garden.
The leg was found six miles away in Totnes by Natalie Williams on a roof which seagulls have been nesting on "for months". Natalie said of the discovery: "I found what can only be described as a mammal's leg on a fire escape at the back.Animal experts said the bone could have been a rabbit's foot, but just weeks later a woman named Daisy Pugh said she saw seagulls fighting over a "paw" in a car park in Exeter.
After the disappearance of Gizmo, the RSPCA issued advice for owners of small dogs to keep them on leads, especially during summer months when seagulls become very protective of their young.
