When Antonia and Ruslan Sandulescu moved into their South Dublin home in 2016, they began renovating each room one by one “which, in hindsight, was the most difficult way to approach the project”, the couple say.

“It’s our first home, but it’s definitely not our ‘forever home’. The property had good bones, but we saw the potential to make it truly our own. “The renovation was extensive – we stripped the walls completely down to the brick, insulated the house and replaced all the windows, which significantly increased the Building Energy Rating to the highest level.

“We splurged on the elements that make a lasting impact like flooring, cabinetry and main furniture pieces. These are the foundations of a beautiful home. We saved on decor items, opting to refresh these over time to keep things feeling current.”
