Wins at GAA headquarters have been scarce since Cork’s last All-Ireland in 2005, with their most recent coming in the 2021 semi-final against Kilkenny, when they prevailed after extra time.

Shane Kingston says he’s not burdened by Cork’s Croke Park record as they bid to wreck Limerick’s five-in-a-row dream on Sunday.

“So I wouldn’t be looking at those games too much. The last time we played in Croke Park was the All-Ireland final in 2021, where we didn’t do ourselves justice or express ourselves on the day. So you’d be doing your best to rectify that performance. Some day, and possibly in the not too distant future, Cork are going to bridge the gap to 2005. To be part of the side that does it would be quite something.

Support has swelled behind the Cork team since they beat Limerick in the Munster round robin phase to save their season, with Kingston winning the late penalty that swung the game their way. “It’s good to have the Cork public really following us this year. I know Ethan Twomey said it there, it’s nearly like the 16th man following us coming down the stretch.”
