One in eight Irish motorists admit to speeding in recent weeks
Men were more likely to have broken the limit with 15.2% stating they had driven faster than they should have recently compared to 8.4% of women.
AA director of consumer affairs Conor Faughnan said: “Speeding is a major problem on Irish roads and a direct contributing factor to many of the accidents we see on a daily basis from minor collisions up to and including those resulting in one or more fatalities.
