“It’s difficult, there’s so much passion and support for their national team and at the moment they are in a tough place.'
Simon Easterby has emerged as one of the favourites for the Wales Head Coach job following yet another defeat for the Principality at the weekend.
The recruitment process will begin in earnest following the WRU first appointing a Director of Rugby, a job for which there is believed to be a shortlist of one - and which will see the return to top level rugby of England World Cup winner Clive Woodward. Appointed Defence Coach at Stradey Park at that point, he was promoted in 2012 to the Head Coach role before being 'poached' by Ireland in 2014 as a Forwards Coach with that title changing to Defence Coach in 2021.
“It’s difficult," he says of Wales current plight. "There’s so much passion and support for their national team and at the moment they are in a tough place.
