Steve Bruce is back in management with Blackpool and the veteran boss quickly had his old manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, on the phone as he delivered him a timely reminder
Steve Bruce had Sir Alex Ferguson contacting him soon after taking the Blackpool job - with his former boss making sure he was on the way to work bright and early.
He hasn't held a job for nearly two years, last being in charge of West Brom, but has several promotions on his CV with the likes of Birmingham and Hull City. Blackpool now want him to revive their season and Bruce's former boss rang him - only to be ignored - before he sent a witty text about his ex-player's time keeping.
“'And by the way. You should be on the way to work’. And that’s at 6.40 am. Typical him, some things never change. He is what he is. At Old Trafford he was always in first for training, no matter how successful he was, just ready for another day and another challenge. Bruce is one of a number of players who excelled with United in the 1990s who have gone on to turn their hand at management. He's held several Premier League jobs and is now back in the third tier for the first time in well over 20 years, but was determined to get back involved.
