Tommy Reffell claims that Ireland are losing nothing by having Jack Conan come in for injured captain Caelan Doris for the battle of the breakdown in Cardiff on Saturday
Tommy Reffell says his job is to get battered by Ireland in an attempt to slow down the Grand Slam hopefuls.
With such a short time to prepare after replacing Warren Gatland, Wales' interim head coach Matt Sherratt has decided to followed England's gameplan by selecting two opensides - Reffell and skipper Jac Morgan. "People have an opinion on it, but it can work both ways," said Reffell. "You can have more threat over the ball and also as an attacking threat around the field. But you can also nullify their threat as well. That’s what we will try and do, because of the way they get over the ball and defend as well."
Reffell shrugged off the fact that he was dropped from the line-up to face Italy in Rome by Gatland as Wales suffered a record-extending 14th consecutive Test defeat.
