RTE's Six One News was the second most popular programme during the festive period, trailing only behind the New Year's Eve countdown.
The Six One News was the second most watched programme on RTE over the festive season, beating Mrs Brown’s Boys and second only to the New Year's Eve countdown. RTE ’s Six One News on New Year's Eve had an average audience of 540,000 viewers and a 51 per cent share of the audience, according to the broadcaster. But the station revealed New Year’s Eve Live was the most watched show over the two weeks, with an average audience of 580,000 viewers tuning in from their sofas on the stormy night.
Brendan O’Carroll’s Mrs Brown’s Boys New Years Eve special had an average of 440,000 viewers and a 41% share, while RTE’s Nine O’Clock News on December 29 had an average of 408,000 viewers and a 34% share. The figures come in the wake of Mrs Brown’s Boys failing the top ten spot with the BBC’s viewership over the Christmas. Meanwhile, the Late Late NYE Show RTÉ One had an average of 408,000 viewers and a 39% share, while on RTÉ Player this programme has generated nearly 68,000 streams to date. Henry Mount Charles: A Lord In Slane RTÉ One 27-12-2024 had an average of 348,000 viewers and a 33% share. And The Young Offenders on RTÉ One on Christmas Day had an average of 347,000 viewers and a 25% share, while on RTÉ Player this programme has generated nearly 77,000 streams to date. Meanwhile, Fair City’s explosive Christmas scenes on December 27 had an average of 306,000 viewers and a 23% share. And Oliver Callan’s Callan Kicks The Year 2024 on New Years Eve on RTE One attracted 305,000 viewers, while 297,000 audiences watched Off Duty Chef: Bringing It Home on RTÉ One on December 23.
