Tottenham have U-turned on their decision to ban a long-standing flag from their stadium just 64 minutes after fans vented their anger at the move.fans took to Twitter on Friday after the club told them that their ‘Spurs Cyprus flag had been banned from being displayed at home games due to its ‘political’ undertones. The Cypriot flag features the shape of the island on a white background with two olive branches to signify the peace between the Greek and Turkish Cypriots.
Their statement read: “Spurs have informed us that we are no longer allowed to bring the Spurs Cyprus Flag into the stadium anymore and that it is permanently banned from being brought inside.“The reason they gave us is that the flag is ‘a political’ flag and political flags are not permitted inside the stadium.
“We have been part of the furniture for years and many fans describe the flag as “iconic”. Everyone loves it. No one has a problem with the flag.
